Why work from home is boon?
I am pretty sure that most of the people are doing work from home in this era of the pandemic. I would like to tell you that work from home is not new to me, I have been doing this for long time. There are lot of things that I love about working from home, it’s flexible, convenient. I have complete control over my space.
What are the advantages and disadvantages of working from home?
I have been working from home for more than 3 years. I like what I do, and I am sharing my experience of working from home.Since I got to work from home my life has changed in both ways personally and professionally. Being a father of two kids now I can give a quality time to my family, delivering quality project work to client not a single escalation. I got lots of appreciation and awards for my work.
What I am writing above, you might agree with me, but a question may raise how I am doing this so effectively? So here is the answer.
As I am an IT professional from India (Bengaluru) working for great MNC. My office is around 25 KM from my home, It doesn’t look far is it? What is big deal 25 KM? It will take hardly 40 minutes of time If you have this impression, then you are totally wrong. The ground reality is just opposite as daily commuters from Bengaluru knows very well.
Believe me, this 25 KM was taking me 2 hours to reach office and it was normal or I can say the minimum. In between if the rain started it means, then gone case. You don’t know when you will reach an office, or if you are coming back to the home you really don’t when you will reach home. We do 8 hours work in addition we do ups and down of 5 hours. It doesn’t look justified.
Once you reach to office you will be totally exhausted, hence whatever your plans were, gets delayed. We especially IT professional always working under a competitive timeline, hence our deliverable were affected badly. Similarly, while returning the same story got repeated. Late dinner, children went to sleep by the time reached home affecting both the mood and the health at the same time.
5 Ways to Work from Home More Effectively
Since I got work from home, I am more organized I am myself deciding when I work when I make a break when I do other things for when I go shopping when I do exercise and of course home food. I don’t need any transport so I can save my time and money and I can also soothe my nerves, since I don’t have to sit in traffic jams and curse. I don’t have to wait for a bus and I don’t have to stand in the crowded bus. I am more productive as I was never not feeling work pressure and I am enjoying my work.
The future of remote work
I would say if you work from home, you should have a rest somewhere outside your place no reading books, no watching TV at home, it’s better if you just go out visit some cultural events do sports and just something like that. I must say this type of work is not suitable for everyone it depends on how organized you are I mean there are people who can’t focus on their work when they’re home if a cozy bed is nearby or something like this.
I would like to conclude with a question and the question goes to Corporate (IT). When I talk Corporate (IT) in terms of infrastructure huge amount they are investing in terms of rented building, security, cafeteria, Cab facilities and maintenance list could be bigger than this. Adopting this new norms IT Company saved lots of money.
Is Working from Home a Boon or a Bane?
Since pandemic started Corporate (IT) globally provided work from home to associate employee. This is the month of April 2021 it is quite a long time and IT professional delivered task efficiently and timely and for IT industry it is an advantage , then why not provide work from home permanently it will be win – win situation for both employee and employer.
